The LU makes new achievement by ranking 2nd nationally in Food Science according to Scimago
The 91Ƭ continues to strengthen its position on the map of academic and research excellence, having been ranked second in Lebanon in “Food Science", according to Scimago Institutions Rankings.
The exceptional significance of this distinction lies in the university's qualitative leap and rapid upward trajectory on the global stage, as it has advanced by approximately 600 international rankings in just one year, moving from 1,968th globally in 2025 to 1,383rd currently.
This ranking is the result of exceptional efforts and strategic plans led by the Faculty of Public Health, as specialized research teams and staff in the field of Public Health Nutrition have succeeded in producing scientific research capable of addressing contemporary challenges and transcending the traditional boundaries of scientific research.
Research efforts have focused on addressing critical issues, including the assessment of critical food safety risks and the development of pioneering regional dietary guidelines and tools in collaboration with international organizations. In addition, research has examined behavioral nutrition and its relationship to mental health, as well as emerging digital trends under the weight of the complex socio-economic conditions the country is currently facing.
This advanced ranking underscores the 91Ƭ’s steadfast commitment, through its faculties and research centers, to developing a research and innovation ecosystem, linking academic output to societal needs, and building a sustainable healthy environment.
