Human Rights Forum on Lebanese Labor Law at the Institute of Social Sciences

The Institute of Social Sciences – Branch 3, in collaboration with the Lebanese Observatory for Workers’ and Employees’ Rights, organized a panel discussion entitled "The Lebanese Labor Law and Career Transitions for Social Sciences Students", attended by the Institute’s Director, Dr. Wadiha El Amiouni, representatives from the Observatory, and a number of faculty members and students.

The session opened with a speech by Dr. El Amiouni, in which she emphasized the importance of linking academic knowledge to professional reality, noting that the rapid transformations in the Lebanese labor market require students to be familiar with their rights and duties and to understand the laws that regulate their professional relationships and protect their dignity and social stability.

The session addressed the origins of Lebanese labor law since 1946 and the key challenges it faces amid economic and social crises, as well as the reality of certain professions and specializations that remain outside the scope of legal and social protection.

This activity is part of the Institute’s commitment to fostering a culture of human rights among students and preparing them for conscious and responsible integration into the labor market, thereby contributing to the building of a more just and equitable society.
