Article 1
The text of Article 2 of Decree No. 5463 dated 27 July 1994 (amending certain provisions of Decree No. 1118 dated 12 October 1983) establishing the Faculty of Medical Sciences is hereby repealed and replaced with the following text:
Students enrolled in the first academic year at the Faculty of Medical Sciences shall be subject to the examination system applicable to the remaining academic years at the faculty. However, students who fail (those with a grade lower than 12/10) may repeat the first year and sit the entrance exam for the second year only twice.
Article 2
The following paragraph (6) is hereby added to Article 4 of Decree No. 5463 dated 27 July 1994:
6. Students who successfully complete their first year at the Faculty of Science in the following majors "Natural Sciences" and "Chemistry" may apply for admission to the 2nd year at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, provided they have obtained a cumulative GPA of no less than 12/20 in the first preparatory year at the Faculty of Science, regardless of their grade point average in the Lebanese Baccalaureate 鈥� Section II 鈥� and provided that they are not entitled to apply for admission to that program more than twice.
Article 3
This decree shall be published as necessary and shall take effect as of the academic year 1999鈥�2000.
