The 91Ƭ announces the start of the accepting applications for research program support submitted by teaching staff members for 2026. The announcement includes three support programs as follows:
- The general program of support for basic research submitted by faculty members: This is designed to support research projects and theoretical and applied studies in areas determined by the academic faculties in line with their educational and research needs.
- The Societal Research Support Program: aims to support applied research that addresses vital and pressing issues in society in cooperation with the private and public sectors, and whose results play a positive role in problem-solving and the development of society.
- The innovation and development research support program aims to support development and innovation research that can be applied and invested in practice within a limited timeframe. The researcher must be close to obtaining a prototype. The program also supports research in the basic sciences, provided it raises an advanced problem that constitutes a distinctive cognitive addition to its field.
- Support for interdisciplinary scientific research within relevant fields: These programs meet the operational needs of the project, the requirements for consumables and small equipment to complement the research laboratories of faculties and institutes, and the costs of using shared research service platforms.
This year, priority is given to:
- Proposals submitted by researchers affiliated with the laboratories and research centers of the university’s faculties and institutes.
- Research related to innovation, development, and applied research, particularly in the following fields:
- Artificial intelligence
- Topics related to regional planning, in particular:
- Increasing the use of renewable energy
- Preserving the environment and natural resources and addressing pollution
- Optimizing road networks and public transportation systems
- Value-added industries and agriculture
- Funding sources
- Topics related to emerging situations in Lebanon in the fields of humanities and digital sciences, agricultural sciences, law, media, and communication sciences.
- Cancer and Molecular Biology
Faculty members wishing to submit a under one of these programs should prepare an application using the standard form available on the website () and adhere to the following guidelines:
- Submit the application in accordance with the sections of the form mentioned above.
- The research period is two years (projects lasting less than two years are not accepted).
- The principal researcher is not allowed to submit more than one application for funding.
- The research group is not allowed to submit more than one application for funding.
- Projects based solely on statistical surveys and databases are not accepted.
Applications are submitted via the faculties' research centers and research departments, and in administrative order to the Secretariat of the University Presidency within the Central Administration.
An electronic copy in both formats (PDF, Word) is also sent by e-mail to the address (ul.research@ul.edu.lb) by a deadline ending 31 July 2026 (final deadline which cannot be extended).
